Popped and poured. Pale yellow color. Nose this shows nice freshness, crushed limestone, a dash of honey and some Puligny-Montrachet-like nuttiness. Really fat on the palate with great pear and apple fruit that almost goes into a peachy note. Finishes well and that nuttiness reappears on the finish. Clearly not as lean as the Amphitheater, and not as lemony as the Bee Block. Great balance and as in 2004, this 2005 Home Block is my favorite of the Varner Chards. The nuttiness of this wine reminds me of the 1999 Ridge Montebello Chard I've had multiple times although later in its life. Will be fascinating to follow for the next few years. Highly recommended.
