1994 Château Montrose (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe)

Great bottle of wine. The last bottle I had almost 2 years ago was ho-hum, but this one was singing. Just a dark, dark color with a tremendous cassis and cigar box nose. Flavors were all about black currant, blackberry, and tobacco with some coffee grinds. Finishes well and although it is great to drink now, I imagine this can hold for many more years. Certainly worth its acquisition cost of $45 in 2005. At its current going rate of $70-$100, I would recommend to pass though as there are many wines from better vintages that can be had for less.
