2003 Château Simone Palette (France, Provence, Palette)

Popped and poured. Light ruby red color and nose that is brimming with raspberry and dried herbs. Pure elegance on the palate with lovely raspberry, red currant, dried thyme, rosemary, and lavender. Finish goes on and on. Keeps getting better and more effusive with air, while being more tightly wound right out of the bottle. It could use some decanting. This is a wine that is all about its place/terroir and will not overwhelm with its fruit. Despite its light appearance, it packs the proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove. I adore this wine and am a huge fan who will seek out past and future vintages. Old-world fans rejoice...this is a wine that I consider a must-try for you. I can't speak highly enough of this unique wine.

We actually stopped at this chateau on our way from the Cote D'Azur to the Rhone Valley two weeks ago (it's just East of Aix-en-Provence), but they do not taste their wine, nor do they accept credit or bank cards. The grounds are stunningly beautiful though.
