OK. I'll admit it. This wine has me perplexed. The first two nights, it wsa too fruity and oaky, but tonight, after being open for 4 days, it's showing great. The oak seems to have integrated and the wine has found the balance it lacked through that massive fruit cloak. Has a more interesting spice and tree bark, wet leaf nose now that's accentuated by some red fruit in the background. On the palate, the acidity is lively and lifting. It has some nice plum, berry, and cinnamon on the palate and finishes well. Two days ago, the finish was flabby and boring. Go figure. I wouldn't call this traditional Ribera fare, but it's very good with extended aeration. Maybe my bottle was an aberration, but this still needs 5 more years in my book.
