On day 1, the wine came out of the bottle with a dark blackberry color and it had a tremendous nose of cassis, earth, and some tobacco and garbed leather. It was dense and plush on the palate with massive tannins that were maybe a little much for my taste, but the depth of flavors was incredible. Long finish (maybe 45+ seconds). I easily scored this 94 points.
On day 2, after a day in my cellar at 55 degrees, the wine had shut down virtually completely. The fruit was gone, and the structure stuck out like a sore thumb along with the oak treatment. Odd, awkward wine. I proceeded to drink only little and not score as I thought it was not representative of the wine.
On day 3, we were back to initial form, but the wine had mellowed a lot. Still a little closed on the nose, but the palate gave up nice flavors and the fruit was back. This is a tremendous buy, but I believe it is unfortunately not cheap as it runs between $54-$60 in shops nationwide.
