2002 Kay Brothers Shiraz Hillside Amery Vineyards (Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale)

Popped and poured...this is the real deal...flamboyant nose of licorice, tar, tobacco, blue- and blackberry, and pain grille. Insanely velvety texture with great licorice, tar, and blueberry flavors that go on and on. Despite its obvious propensity to age many more years, this flamboyant, complex, sexy wine is hard to resist now and is remarkably elegant and light on its feet for its size. An absolute winner, especially considering the $32 release price. It comes under screwcap and I highly recommend this wine from my favorite producer of Australian Shiraz. I may add that this wine is nothing like the overblown Aussie Shiraz styles like Mollydooker or their predecessor Marquis Philips. This wine is a classy wine all the way through that doesn't try to just seduce by power alone.
