The Burgundy bug has bitten

Burgundy seems like a bad habit. It's easy to get hooked and difficult to get rid of. Although I had sworn not to get into Burgundy (both white and red) to avoid getting caught up in a region with too many different terroirs and relatively high prices, I was only able to keep my demons at bay for a few years. I recently gave in to the sirens...

Many of the Burgundies I have had have been outstanding and some of the older examples have been outright stunning. Although I can't say I've been drinking trophy wines, I do think that even the 1er Crus I've consumed have been nothing short of amazing in most cases. My recent experience with a 2002 Volnay Clos de la Barre from Jadot was wonderful and the 2004 Girardin Chassagne Montrachet "Les Caillerets" gave me much satisfaction, if for no other reason than its full body, low alcohol (compared to CA Cahardonnay) and pure, fresh flavors.

Talk about Burgundy...the recent 2002 St. Innocent I drank, could have passed for a young Burgundy in my opinion.

What are your thoughts and experiences around Burgundy and some US Burgundy imposters?
