1999 Hutton Vale Shiraz (Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Eden Valley)

Another stunning wine. Decanted since 11am until dinner around 8pm. This kept changing continuously throughout the night. It started as a classic worldclass Shiraz and developed into a Bordeaux-like personality while retaining what uniquely gives it away as Aussie Shiraz. The elegance, round, fleshy fruit are framed by some earth tones, licorice, and the slightest bit of oak. Sensational wine.

The story is that Hutton Vale originally owned 3 plots of land and sold off 2 of them during a cash shortage many years ago. One of the 2 parcels sold is Henschke's Hill of Grace Vineyard. This is special terroir without a doubt.
