Remarkable nose of smoke, graphite, tobacco and cassis. This has been open and decanted for more than 4 hours, but it's still a tannic monster of a wine. At first, I thought the fruit could never catch up with the tannins, but as the wine keeps opening up, it keeps gaining balance. Apart from the obvious tannins, this displays a minerality, that I don't usually find typical for Bordeaux. Extremely feminine and elegant in a good way while clearly fully ripe and sappy. The texture is more like silk than velvet and the acid gives this wine freshness and lift. By far the best second wine from Bordeaux I've ever had and one, that I think will need 10 years to drink well. If I had a case, I'd be thrilled.
