2000 Domaine de Ferrand Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (3/3/2007)
Pop-and-poured, this wine seemed odd. Not much of a nose or even taste. With being open some time, the wine turned around nicely. Solid structure and pretty red fruit on a medium weight frame. The texture was the highlight along with the fruit that seemed sweet (but not the residual sugar sensation I sometimes get from some CA wines). Finishes well. At $30 on release, this was a good buy and this bottle was better than the last, so I think this wine has some time left before it plateaus. I'd buy it again. (90 pts.)
